In most of the Objects, you will find the same common fields, such as the unique ID for the record, or the time it was created. The following table shows common fields you are likely to come across in your objects, and whether the data within them can be changed.
| Friendly Field Name | Data Field Name | General Data Type | Description | Auto-Generated Data | Updateable |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UUID | uuid | UUID | Universally Unique Identifier for the object record. [System Field] | Yes | No |
| Application UUID | app_uuid | UUID | Identifier for the associated application. This is what links the object in your account to your specific application. [System Field] | Yes | No |
| Application Context Ref | app_context_ref | Text (max length 50) | You can use this field to provide searchable context to your object – for example this may be an external identifier, or a lookup UUID to another object in your application. | No | Yes |
| Sub UUID | sub_uuid | UUID | Similar to the Application Context Ref, This field can be used to store a UUID to another Object. For example, you may be recording an event for an asset – this field would be the preferred field to store the asset UUID to which the event relates. | No | Yes |
| Taxonomy | [context]taxonomy | Text (max length 50) | The Taxonomy field is simply a way of categorising your data. So within your Object you can categorise it so that it can be easily searched and partitioned from other data within the Object. We thoroughly recommend the use of the Taxonomy field wherever possible to optimise searching and querying your data. | No | Yes |
| Meta Data | meta_data | Text | Some Objects have a Meta Data field where you can store large chunks of data that is associated with the specific object, but not necessarily required for searching and querying on. An example of this is a credit card transaction that may have some important data returned by the merchant gateway which you just want to keep with the transaction data for reference. | No | Yes |
| Created At | created_at | DateTime | Timestamp of when the Object record was created. [System Field] | Yes | Yes |
| Updated At | updated_at | DateTime | Timestamp of when the Object record was last updated. [System Field] | Yes | Yes |
| Created By | created_by | Text (max length 50) | You can use this field to record who or what created the Object record. | No | Yes |
| Updated By | updated_by | Text (max length 50) | You can use this field to record who or what last updated the Object record. | No | Yes |
